Has anyone else read 'the perks of being a wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky? I'm going to turn into some sappy, stereotypical girl here but I loved it. Its similar to "the catcher in the rye" by J.D.Salinger in many ways which is probably why i like it so much (needless to say, they are 2 out of 3 of my favourite books.)
I love how books can make such an impression on you, and this one in particular really moved me. Its about a young boy dealing with some sort of mental illness, (anxiety i suspect) and how he overcomes the pressures, difficulties and general nuisance of teenage life in a somewhat interesting setting. Yet at the end, we have to come to are own conclusions and decide for ourselves the true outcome of this story. I find this in itself fascinating.
The quotes that most stick out to me in it are "and in that moment, i swear we were infinite" and the old favourite "we accept the love we think we deserve" I'll let you make your own opinions on them, but i really think they demonstrate the mindset of a teenager.
Similarly with "the catcher in the rye" I find it so enthralling how something as overlooked as grammar can express the thoughts/feelings/emotions of the main characters mindset, the GRAMMAR, not even through words we can picture Holdens feelings.
Maybe this is just the english language obsession in me. I don't know, but if you haven't read either of these books, you need to.

the perks of being a wallflower?

First Impressions.
Does anyone else just sometimes feel like their mind words just a little bit differently to other peoples? I'm convinced of this.
The first thing I notice in a person is honest to god, teeth. weird? actually I'm not so sure, because they tend to grab your eye a bit don't they? especially if they're bad. There is nothing, I repeat nothing worse than having to sit and have a conversation with someone who has bad teeth and worst still bad breath.
It's giving me somewhat of a migraine just thinking about it.
How many other people would say that teeth are the first thing they notice in a person? not many I would think.
Most girls would say something silly like "a personality out-shines everything" but you don't know that straight away, so they'll give some rubbish about hair/smile/smell.
Guys on the other hand are more straight forward - boobs/bum/beauty. you don't hear many guys going around saying "obviously she's got an amazing rack, but the first thing I noticed about her is how nice she is to animals, and how sweet it is that she devotes all her time to helping the mentally ill" do you?
And why not? because guys don't think like that.
Should i demonstrate this? A quote from my guy friend:
"looks aren't everything, but you can't wank over a personality" - brutally true.
Maybe i just don't know the right guys. But I'm eighteen and still waiting for someone to prove me wrong.
over and out.

Is it my fault?
"Why didn't he call me back?" one of life's very trivial unanswered questions.. But why didn't he? Was he too busy? Did he forget? Or was I just a bad kisser?
It seems silly that we automatically think of the most innocent reasons, or worst still blame ourselves.
What if he's waiting for us to call him? Doubtful.
Or maybe "he's just not that into [us]" it's like we try anything but to believe that, because to believe that is like having someone laugh in your face when you try to kiss them.
But then again...why did he kiss you? If he's not into you, then why would he want to kiss you? At new year as well... Why would he waste his New Years kiss on you?
Obviously I'm talking about myself here.
Maybe it was just to 'get some action' but texting me non stop and then ditching me once you get what you want?
I'd like to not think all guys are like this and genernalise them like that, but it's hard not to when that's all you come across.
"We adore those who ignore us and ignore those who adore us" - now this, couldn't be more true.

A hearty hello to blogging.
"Just your average teenager, aspiring to be a writer in London" - I don't want to fall under that category but apparently I do. I'm also not all that sure what I want to do, but writing in London is a job I can't see many people turning down.
London is magical by night and an adventure by day. And I can say that without a shadow of a doubt its getting me through my A Levels.
All I know now, is that one day, I'll be there and I'll love it.
